We had a chance to catch up with none other than Alice Cooper a few weeks ago to pick his brain about the current state of the music industry and where he thinks it might be going.
Alice offers some great advice to young musicians (you've got to be a good live band, among other things), but he also offers up that the internet-and specifically Project Unicorn-may just be the wave of the future.
Check out a few of the clips from the interview (and don't forget to watch his Solid Rock promos while you're at it to find out more about the great organization Alice has founded).
I'm a notorious failure in the kitchen, (it's bad...real bad) and I gave up attempting to produce anything edible a long time ago.
I won't tell you that this new series suddenly made cooking a simple task for me. It didn't...but it certainly makes it entertaining. Nadia G, the host of Bitchin Kitchen takes her audience through easy, authentic, homemade recipes.
In this episode, Nadia fights for the underdog, vegetables that is. Check it out, try it out, and who know, maybe I'll come back a culinary genius.
The Hubble Space Telescope, a collaboration between ESA and NASA, is a long-term, space-based observatory. By driving astronomical research, Hubble has, in many ways, revolutionized modern astronomy...making some of the most dramatic discoveries in the history of astronomy. Pretty cool stuff.
Enter Hubblecast, a fantastic series that brings these amazing discoveries right to you. In this episode, "Uncovering the Veil Nebula," Dr. J explores the exploding stars of the Supernovae. You'll see some beautiful images and maybe learn a few things while you're at it.
In his series, How It Is, Clive shows how the boys just that. In this episode, "The Drink," Clive discusses what a lady's drink might say about her. (I admittedly don't really agree entirely with Clive's analysis here, but it makes me chuckle none the less.)
Check it out, and look for more of Clive and How It Ishere.
For over three years, Tule (pronounced Tool-ee) Production LLC has been developing and now producing The Battalion, which takes a glimpse into the inner workings of United States Fire Departments.
It's pretty fascinating stuff. Check out "Rescue Training" here:
I am loving this sketch comedy group out of LA, Tomboys in Fishnets. They're some seriously dynamic damsels...but don't let my feeble attempt at alliteration fool you...you won't find these ladies in distress. In fact, they're launching an all-out attack on the world of sketch comedy.
Their sketches are smart, provocative. These women, who came together in late 2000, are no doubt defying the "women aren't funny" stereotype...and they look fantastic doing it.
Check out one of their latest, "Happy Hour," a potentially saddening, but strikingly accurate commentary on the idiosyncrasies of ladies night:
The U is a pretty fantastic place to work (don't mind my gloating). We're big fans of Rock Band and have been known to challenge each other to impromptu mid-morning ping pong matches, but there are some days that we all just spend a little too much time chained to our desks. Hey...we know how to play, but we work hard too.
...which is why I'm loving this: Diet.com's Office Workouts. It's just five minutes of some fantastic little exercizes that you can do right at your desk. In fact, I'm doing them right now. Check it:
Don't let the name fool you...this is no kissing game.
Emmy-award winning Tad Low (of Pop-Up Video fame) founded Spin the Bottle in 1995, bringing its all original, non-fiction, short-form series to households and audiences across multiple platforms...including of course Unicorn Media.
Low's content is full of ironic sensibility...simultaneously critiquing and celebrating popular culture. It's smart. It's funny..and it's quick enough to watch during your lunch break.
Check out this episode of Phly, "Hamburgler".
Like what you see? Be sure to head over to Unicorn Media to check out more from Low and the rest of the Spin the Bottle gang.
